Neil is an experienced entrepreneur and technologist who founded Optimation in 1992. He is inspired by the twin goals of helping organisations transform for productivity and competitive advantage, while contributing to a thriving, sustainable local ICT sector that provides people with rewarding careers.
Neil pioneered the formation of strategic partnerships that give customers global capabilities at New Zealand scale. He has also taken local ingenuity and IP to the world through Optimation Ventures.
Neil is a member of the Institute of Directors and holds several independent directorships and board advisory roles. He is involved in ICT sector groups including NZTech, and he provides mentoring and advice to a number of start-ups and innovators.
With over 25 years of experience in applying smart technology to businesses across the globe, Alex is an Executive Director, assisting with governance and key relationships across Optimation Group of companies in New Zealand and Australia. Alex’s experience spans multiple industries from Government, Defence and the Private Sector. He has a special focus on the wider Justice Sector eco-system, as part of Optimation’s key relationship with NZ Corrections.
Alex was formerly an executive at HP for 14 years, with his last role there running Global Delivery of Application Services across Australia and NZ into India, the Philippines and China.
With over 30 years of experience in the ICT industry, David is General Manager, Optimation New Zealand. He is experienced in leading large cross-functional teams to deliver excellent outcomes for customers from innovating through to operate.
David has a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and has extensive experience in technical, sales, delivery and leadership roles spanning multiple industries from both Private Sector and Government. He has successfully led the delivery of a number of significant infrastructure, outsource and application projects.
David is passionate about leveraging the power of technology, teams and innovation to help solve customers’ business problems.
With a background in all things Talent Supply Chain related, from recruitment delivery to workforce strategy, Craig is a Talent Acquisition expert. As a career recruiter, his recent experience outside of New Zealand allows him to bring back thought leadership at the forefront of the TA debate. Craig gets to work with our clients on the big picture around effective talent acquisition methods, but more so, what it means for their employment brand and the nature of the engagement experience candidates can expect. Craig has a very natural and knowledgeable communication style that will help decipher the current TA noise and craft a deliberate and pragmatic pathway to the right solution for the right problem.
Yann has developed both hands-on and management skills in a wide range of industries throughout his extensive career, filling a variety of roles from accountant, developer, systems engineer, IT Manager through to CIO. His experience has encompassed elevated senior management positions within large-scale corporate environments.
Yann takes great pride in coordinating and ensuring the delivery of the best possible solutions, with customer satisfaction being of paramount importance as an outcome.
Yann's leadership and a results driven approach have been integral to continual career success. Yann is the former Chairman of the French New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Industry and one of the former French Foreign Trade Advisors for the French Government which augments his global business network knowledge and understanding.
Karl has more than 30 years proven experience in the IT industry working with Government, Commercial and Utility Sector clients. With considerable experience in client relationship management, solution development, service delivery, programme management and financial management. A results driven self-starter committed to delivering quality outcomes for our clients whilst being committed to maintaining integrity, respect and trust. A skilled networker and collaborator who adds value by establishing and building relationships with key people in organisations to facilitate business win/win solutions. A natural influencer, who is able to focus large teams on a single goal/outcome. Karl is an open, enthusiastic and energetic person who brings a positive approach to colleagues and clients alike. Karl’s values (open, honest, integrity - his word is his bond) ensures he brings commitment and determination to all his responsibilities.
Bruce most recently comes from NIB, where he was supporting them on their cloud transformation endeavours, agile practices and .net solutions. His previous roles include co-founding a tech start-up operating in the East-African travel sector, technical manager of a software house in the UK and a solution architect for ASOS.com.
His passion for travel and adventure has taken him all over the world, and he loves meeting new people and exploring new places. Being a father to two kids is the biggest adventure one could hope for though he says, and his weekends are now filled with playgrounds, family bike rides and fluffies.
With over 20 years’ experience across a number of industry verticals, such as Finance, banking & insurance, Manufacturing, Utilities, and Logistics, Johns focus is on the customers’ business outcome and success.
Experience ranging from a start-up Telecommunications provider that became the 3rd largest provider in NZ, a Systems Integrator focused on transition to cloud and outsourced managed services, and most recently delivering Business Continuity Solutions to customers to ensure compliance with contract and regulatory obligations.
John is our Sales Director and works with the Client Directors across the business on sales strategy and ensuring the client experience is always exemplary.
John’s ability to Interpret, understand and even expand on customer’s business opportunities or issues results in delivery of tailored and innovative solutions for our customer’s success.
Darren is an experienced IT & Business Manager, who has excelled in roles varying from Infrastructure, Business Mgt for government agencies within the Transport, Tax & Social Policy areas and large private organisations within Bank & Insurance industries.
He has strong leadership capabilities, can lead technical teams into transforming organisations through the use of technology. His interesting mix experience brings practical insights to put structures in place, articulate the vision and strategy to deliver results.
Darren believes that change is not only a constant in life, but is also a worthwhile necessity in that it provides us all with opportunity for personal development and for improvement in the way that we approach and develop the output of our roles.
His strong work ethics and motivation, focus on the quality of work and delivery make him a valuable player to our sales team.
With over 20 years of experience, Franck has become a seasoned sales executive in business technology. He has worked overseas for organisations such as Alcatel, NTT and locally where he led strategic client engagements at Spark Digital/Gen-i, HCL, Fronde, Techspace and more. The combination of corporate sales and marketing roles with entrepreneurship initiatives, give him unique insight on how to navigate through companies' intricacies. Franck brings a different spin, a fresh perspective and a bit of French flair to conversations. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration, is a Certified Sales Professional and a Certified Agile Project Manager. At Optimation Franck leads the new business development.
John joins Optimation with over 30 years’ experience in IT and in his career has been involved with all aspects of technology and business outcomes. Having worked initially as a coder, then across delivery and followed by senior business roles at many levels, John's expertise is greatly appreciated by our clients supporting them to achieve success, including setting scope, tools selection, project governance, and more. He is looking forward to using this experience to benefit his engagement with clients in their transformation initiatives.
John has worked for us in 2010 and now is back, bringing vast knowledge and adding to our capabilities for his experiences working across government and private sectors, for companies like HP, Infosys, and more. He is a great asset to the team and is looking forward to working with new clients, exploring our capabilities with Outsystems, Support & Outsource and Timeline PI.
Sarah is our corporate and commercial lawyer. She has experience as a commercial lawyer working in the corporate sector (both the arts and technology fields) in NZ and the UK, and specialises in ICT and technology related advice. Sarah has advised on a wide range of projects including large-scale ICT outsourcing deals. She provides pragmatic legal and commercial solutions to assist in the delivery of great business outcomes. Sarah is an ICAgile Certified Professional.
Sophia is a seasoned IT professional with a background in systems development, project management, support and outsourcing but with a speciality in Software Testing. Sophia has worked in most industries and phases of testing. She is a respected independent Senior Test Consultant having been involved in the inaugural ANZTB (Australian New Zealand Testing Board) and spoken at several NZ testing conferences. Sophia has worked for 23 years in multi-national and kiwi owned organisations leading testing capabilities. Sophia understands what it takes to build successful teams and trust relationships with clients. She is able to tailor pragmatic solutions for digital solutions, ERP projects and bespoke solutions.
Nigel has managed various facets of Government and Commercial application systems development and systems integration projects along with complex application support and maintenance environments while employed with major information technology organisations in New Zealand and the UK.
He has successfully contributed to a wide variety of information technology activities for a number of large New Zealand organisations and has led initiatives to implement and transform business functions to ensure strategic goals are realised with the most appropriate and commercially viable technologies available.
Nigel has worked as a Delivery Leader and Information Systems Specialist and has wide experience across all facets of software development, delivery and management.
Philippa has experience in governance of large, medium and small scale IT projects with an attention to detail including planning, communication, financial and commercial management. She strives to drive a strong culture of accuracy in reporting, governance, delivery of financial reporting (including detailed analysis) and process. Philippa has a passion and a desire to continually re-evaluate standards and process and actively engage in problem solving to achieve continuous improvement and results. Philippa favours process and order, keeping things simple and transparent for all parties, to ensure the best outcomes are achieved while continuing to drive impactful business change across Optimation.
Adam is Optimation's Test Consultant with over 20 years of testing experience. Adam has led the testing on many projects throughout his career, he has successfully delivered large complex projects in both government and private organisations.
Having held many leadership roles throughout his career, he has been responsible for leading and developing testing professionals and teams over many years.
Adam has experience working with companies throughout NZ and internationally, he builds and develops great working relationships with both Information Technology and Business Teams.
