Westpac's DeskBank electronic banking platform is a core offering for its business customers. An on-going relationship with Optimation means the bank has vital software development, consultancy and support services on tap to continue enhancing the services DeskBank provides.
DeskBank supports direct electronic banking - including supplier and payroll payments, international transactions, and deposit and trust account management - for more than 3500 corporate, government and SME clients. The system can interface with a range of accounting and payroll packages used by the Westpac's customers and processes around $5 billion in domestic payments, averaging between 100,000 and 160,000 transactions, daily.
Optimation originally got involved in DeskBank some years ago, developing an interface that would link the bank's primarily Windows-using customers to back-end transactional systems running on a mainframe platform. Security, integrity and reliability were vital because customers accessed the system via dial-up links. Optimation was able to apply its extensive skills in security, infrastructure and software engineering to tackle these challenges.
The initial development proved to be the start of a long relationship. Optimation has completed regular upgrades to the client side of DeskBank and provided technical support, advice and enhancements, particularly in the security area.
