The Porirua City Council and Optimation collaborated together to enhance their current "electronic access for Elected Members to access Council information” by enabling the documents to present better onscreen for smartphones and ipads using QR codes. Porirua City Council won the Association of Local Government Information Management (ALGIM)" Information Management Project of the Year" award on Monday 23 July. ALGIM holds annual awards to recognise good practice and innovation in the world of information management. The Judges recognised the innovation used to develop the portal within existing systems, the increased efficiency and service provided by this project, and the savings being realised by the reduction in numbers of agendas being produced. A key part of the benefits recognised by the Judges was how the change in focus to electronic production meant improved compliance with Council's electronic document management system. The Judges also commented on the use of QR codes to encourage members of the public to download reports and agendas from Council's meeting documents on its website.
